Microsoft has a safe tool to clean up
c:\windows\installer.

http://support.microsoft.com/defaul...

I wouldn't try to do it manually .

Well common sense tells me that Windows Installer CleanUp Utility is not intended for use in a multiboot system.

Ouch! I rarely recommend software to people and this is why.

Would system restore be an option?

I don't use system restore!
Its not a problem! I managed to recover some of the deleted files and restore them to installer folder! Works OK now!
Apart from a few games that I can't uninstall!
Instead of using system restore I rather re-install Windows.

That clean up utility is very good, it just helped me on a restall of office 2003, and outlook3 install from the server, where before I couldnt get it to do nothing. I did do a mistake, hopefully not to big. Maybe someone can help me.
I was working remotely with remote desktop. I have done this for years, infact I probably do about 80% of my business using remote desktop. Never been bitten before but this time and I am ashamed to say, I ran the cleanup utility on the server instead of the workstation. I have restored the INSTALLER folder, but when I go back to the cleanup tool, it does'nt show all the other files that where there, however they are in the INSTALLER folder. Anybody know how i can get this resolved? Do I need to restore something else? Please help if you know.
