Hello,
My windows installer appears to have disappeared.
The files msi.dll, msiexec.exe, msihnd.dll are all located in the windows\system32 folder.
However Windows Installer is missing from my msconfig/services and also missing from the registry editor.
editor/HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/CurrentControlSet/Services/(MSIServer is missing)
I discovered the problem when attempting to do a repair on .NET Framework 3.5. The error report is that the windows installer cannot be accessed followed by a bunch of things that did not load.
I was hit by maleware 4 days ago which we resolved on this forum but the maleware must of damaged my .NET Framework and windows installer. Though I installed several programs such as malewarebytes at that time. Thread located here:

Anyhow, until I can get .NET Framework fixed I cannot load my QuickBooks software which is very important to me per QuickBooks support services.
I don't know what to do. It appears the registery is messed up where windows installer is concerned.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Todd

Hi have attempted to reinstall it three times. Once without doing anything but reinstall. Once by renaming the three files above and then reinstall. Once by renaming the filed through the cmd prompt.
All three times the install failed. It tells me this:
Setup has detected that the service pack version of this system is newer than the update you are applying.
There is no need to install this update.
So I am stuck. Thanks

I was able to download a newer version of installer version 4.5 and installed it successfully. It can be found here:
