while installing windows on my LAPTOP, i am
getting an error "windows could not be installed
because there are no hard disk drives on your
computer". What could be the problem and what
should be done to rectify it??

Do you see the hard drive in the bios?

Windows may not be able to detect the hard drive(s) installed to your machine so you'll have to let your BIOS manage them. During boot enter your BIOS setup and check to see your PnP OS setting. If it's set to "Yes" switch it to "No".
