Specs: Windows XP SP2
This happend all of a sudden two days ago. I left on the computer overnight because i was downloading VMware server 2.0 and it took a while the next morning i shut down the computer (i never opened up VMware server or any app) and everything goes normal. After i came back from school i turn on the computer and everything looks just fine. I click on my username and everythings perfect. THEN i start typing in my password and then i notice its not typing in at all. So i move the mouse and the mouse doesnt respond. I press the Num lock button to see if it turns off, nothing.
Ive tryed booting it up in safe mode and nothing works! Its the same thing every reboot.. Now the worse thing is that i dont have recovery cds to repair or EVEN do a clean install.
My Specs:
Intel Pentium 4 HT 3.20 ghz
Ps2 keyboard and mouse
1gb ddr 3200 RAM
250 gb hdd
Exact name is HP Pavilion a820n

Please help i have a lot of work stored on this computer
Thanks.

Hi, not very skilled, but here's something
that helped us with 2 different problems:

Hiren's boot CD: http://www.hiren.info/pages/bootcd

A tech savvy friend recommended when my
hubby's Win 2000 login password stopped
responding and I used it when my laptop HD
crashed a few weeks ago (win XP home). They
have tools for all flavors of Win.

Create a CD following their instructions you
will be able to access your computer and
there are many many diagnostics included that
can be helpful. Hope this helps, at least
until you can get a real, skilled response.
I admit I made a CD with an earlier version
(for the hubby) but when I went to make
another for me with the latest version I
couldn't figure it out, so used the older one
(just from mid-'08). Still we were able to
get in and either fix the login or recover
files, respectively.

good luck & peace

I dont have a cd burner on this computer :(. I only have a burner on the computer that doesnt want to login =(.
Also i noticed that when i click on a user nothing goes wrong UNTIL i press ANY button on the keyboard the mouse and keyboard freezes but the little blinking line still blinks? I tryed out another ps2 keyboard, same exact problem it froze after key press. Then i tryed a USB keyboard. The USB keyboard worked flawlessly on the bios but when i went to type in the password in my username it didnt do anything. The mouse didnt freeze but the keyboard did not type anything.

EDIT: By the way its me Joe who wrote this =). Joe=Nemesis93

Please help me!
Thanks
