It seems I have gotten a trojan virus and was detected, I went on to shut down system restore and was disinfected with panda virus scan follow by rebooting. But then it starts to made grinding/buzzing Hard drive sounds as if trying to read a sector on the drive C. Reran Panda antivirus and it's clean. Went on and did a trial with Mc.afee and it's also clean! went to norton and did a scan. It found not a virus but a script on c:\windows\system32\-embed but cant seem to locate it in system32. Reformatted the whole pc into ntfs and reloaded all the needed drivers. Now my pc freezes at the main screen after boot up. Please help. Much thanks in advance.

This is my advice :
When I had probs with my XP, I have to back up my data. Then I try to delete NTFS partition from Win98 bootable CD and make it to FAT 32. After that inserted my XP CD to CD Drive and let it go and I have no probs again until now.

Hope helpful

Before u try to reinstall give a shot for repairing ur XP using the operating system CD and pressing the option "R". This brings up the recovery console to fix or replace the missing os system files. This can help......
