I have a rather strange problem occurring with my Windows Firewall. Whenever I reboot, the windows firewall turns itself off. I keep setting it to 'ON' and the admin tools -> services -> win firewall is set to ON and AUTO.
Any idea why it keeps turning off on reboots? I'm starting to worry something is fishy? Thanks for your input. take care.

If it says Started in Services, yes something is fishy.
Here are options.
Try System Restore, I have had good results using this way or Safe Mode, different to Last Known Good Configuration in Safe Mode.

System Restore is accessed the following way:1. It's a good practice to shut down all other applications before using System Restore, as it requires a full-system reboot to complete the installation. Connecting to the internet is not required, however. So shut all applications. Then click "Start."
2. Start > All Programs > Accessories > System Tools > System Restore. Then the program will load.
Here's a screen shot of the program-entry screen:http://www.techbuilder.org/recipes/60402485Or,
If System Restore doesn't work in Normal Mode, it might work in Safe Mode.
Toggle F8 or Press Ctrl ( depends on your comp ) during bootup ( just before, verifying DMI pool, message comes on )
Select Safe Mode.

ReInstalling WindowsXP
http://www.onecomputerguy.com/windowsxp_tips.htm
If you need to reinstall WindowsXP and want to keep all your current installed applications and settings:
1. Start WindowsXP
2. Go to the location of your source files
3. Run WINNT32 /unattend
For example, D:\I386\winnt32 /unattend ( copy & paste this command into the RUN box, then press ENTER ) Your computer will do the rest.
Or,
Start > All Programs > Accessories > Command Prompt.
Copy & paste > D:\I386\winnt32 /unattend
Press Enter.
If you have i386 on your drive, you can replace D: ( if D: is your cd drive ) with the location of it.
I've often need to do this to repair something that had gotten corrupted and didn't want to do a clean install.==========================================
Click Start and then click Run.
In the Open box, copy & paste > sfc /scannow, and then click OK. Note that you may be prompted to insert the Windows XP installation CD-ROM.
