I'm trying to accomplish something very simple. I have two folders, one protected, and one open. Files are first created in the protected folder, then when ready, are moved to the open folder for further processing. Ideally i want the permissions of a file to depend entirely on the directory it is located in. My current setup is this:
Protected folder has strict permissions that apply to the folder only. The files within all have full permissions for all users.
The open folder has full permissions for all users and those are applied to all subfolders and files (applying permissions to all containers within current container).
However, when i create a file, let's say test.txt and save it to my protected directory, it assumes permissions System & owner only, and retains those permissions even when i move it to the open directory. If i copy the text to the open directory, rather than move, the created file inherits the open permissions.
Is there any option that allows the folder's permissions to overwrite the original owner's permissions when the file is moved within the folder?
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

You need to set the file to inherit permissions from it's parent.
