Comment:

When I start up my brother's computer, during the boot up I get this message:

Windows could not start because the following file is missing or corrupt:
/windows/system32/config/system

Then it says you can attempt to repair and bla bla... anyway I can put my windows xp cd in and choose to repair windows but then I have no idea what commands to do to replace these files, anyone able to help?

Also what could have caused this problem?

Thanks

Chris,

Boot from the CD again, but skip the recovery console and go through to where you install windows. Here you are given a choice to do a repair install.

Thanks Sci-Guy,

I ran the setup and it deleted the previous windows installation and reinstalled windows again. All my programs and other data is still there, but every program and windows itsel runs incredibly slow, why is this? How can I fix this?

Thanks
