Hi,

I have XP with SP1 installed and when I'm running "sfc" utility, it says that some files need to be replace. I'm wondering if this is due to SP1 and Windows Updates...

No, it's not due to SP1 and Windows Update. SFC is System File Check that checks the integrity of the OS system files. Why did you run it and for what purpose?

I ran it because recently I've been noticing IE taking 50%-90% of CPU when ever loading any web pages. I've reinstalled IE, updated windows and adware and my antivirus.

Norton Antivirus 2004 findes nothing
Ad-aware finds nothing
ZoneAlarm detects no programs running sudnely.

So everything seems fine but its not. And I don't want to reinstall windows.

I'm keeping my eyes on Event Log for now to see if any errors will show up (cause I cleared it and I haven't used since ages).

One suggestion - Open msconfig and see what processes are running.
