Hi, my windows explorer and IE toolbar has disappeared. It's the basic File View Edit etc toolbar, I can't seem to get it back! I'm positive I just didn't drag it somewhere into oblivion. It's still there in other programs, just not for windows explorer/ie - anyone know how I can get it back???

What happens when you hit the "F11" key on your keyboard?

Try to drag it back down anyway. Pass your cursor up and down at the very top of the screen. If the cursor changes shape, click and drag down. Once you do get the bars back I suggest you right click and tick the "lock toolbars" setting.

Thanks, wasn't able to drag it down... been trying for hours lol. F11 is a programmable key with my keyboard - it's set to open up my documents, although doesn't it normally just make IE going into full screen mode? Don't see how that would help... so frustrating grr

John, Go to the link below and under the letter "T" scroll down to "Toolbar - Missing" and download and run the "Toolbar Repair Utility" which hopefully will correct the problem.

Beleive it or not that utility didn't work... I grabbed a few screen shots to better illustrate the problem, thanks for the link! Just wish it worked :(

John, Did you try right clicking an empty area of your Toolbar and uncheck "Lock The Toolbars" then try dragging it down?

John, If you're comfortable editing the registry you may want to go back to the link I gave you in Response Number 4 and follow the instructions under "Toolbar-Missing"/"Do manually alter the settings...see below:". "
Choose the relevant sub-key and right click where it says ITBarLayout and select Delete. The deleted value will automatically be recreated for you. You may want to right click on the main key (above) and select Export. This will allow you to backup the contents of the whole key, including subkeys". It's good practice to do a backup prior to editing the registry as the prior sentence states.

I lost mine too, but just found it!! Here is what I think I did;
I right clicked on a section of the toolbar that was still there, noted that toolbar was locked, and unlocked it by clicking on toolbar locked, then moved the cursor up and down the line under the toolbar that was left (back, up, search, etc) and found the spot on the bottom of the line and dragged it down, and the missing file, edit, view, etc. appeared. Then I locked toolbar again and have it all. I may have tried customize too. good luck,
Bert
