Windows Explorer Won't Open Folders

I'm running Windows Vista Home Premium. For some reason, starting a couple days ago, Windows Explorer will not open certain folders. It will open most, but with a few it just will not respond when you double-click on the folder; it just keeps "processing" the "open" command without response. The folders in question contain graphics files in NEF, RAW and JPEG formats. Any help will be greatly appreciated!
