right after start up I get the message: windows explorer has encountered an error and needs to close. more info: AppName: explorer.exe AppVer: 6.0.2900.2649 ModName: fcyaxww.dll
ModVer: 0.0.0.0 Offset: 00001c6f. Any Ideas on how to fix this error?

This is "Windows Explorer" not "Internet Explorer". There are no specific updates to a later Windows Explorer.
From a security standpoint it is always sensible to have the latest updates for everything but doing this now will not fix malware or viruses if they are "already on the system".

Scanned with updated version of spybot v1.4 found a firewall disable and an antivirus disable. scanned with pc tools spyware doctor and found trojan downloader.con hook and trojan popupper. both were removed. scanned with vundo fix nothing found. Ad aware 2007 found
found two critical items windows registry item HKu
s-1-5-21 and broadcast ipc data miner both of witch were removed

Err...perhaps it is obvious/implied but are you saying the problem is now fixed?
If it is definitely fixed and you are now booting OK you should delete your system resore points and then make a new one. Otherwise this trojan will come straight back if you should need to restore the system and it happens to have been present in the original save.

Soarry about that, as you guessed I thought it was Internet explorer. Never the less, Googling that error indicated that is Malware.

No that didn't fix the problem, I searched the
fcyaxww.dll file on google and got a site called prevx 2.0 I downloaded that and it found the fcyaxww file and cleaned it I no longer get the windows explorer error at boot up but I still get blue screen crahes often. I was just stating what I had tried. I also tried system restore several times to several different points and never had success.

Possibly some remnants of the trojan are still around. Try this free scanner which is primarily for trojans:
A-SQUARED FREE - JUST DOWN PAGEIt has to be installed then updated. It might take a while to run through so put the coffee on.
