Windows Explorer Comment Column.

January 24, 2005 at 15:46:24
Specs: XP Home SP2, Athlon 1.74ghz/512 mg

I have a folder with several files in it and have added a comment to them all. I can read these comments using "Details" and checking the "Comments" option in Windows Explorer.

If I copy this folder to another location only a few of these files display their comments. I have clicked on "Properties" for these files and find that the "Summary" tab is not showing. Why is this?

Hi Ted.,

try this.

Goto Control Panel > User Properties.
add administrator rights for current user.

Thanks

Surajit Ghosh.

Thank you for your reply.
I did as you suggested, but I am already logged on as Computer Administrator.

Scroll down this page to read More Details in My Documents and Windows Explorer.

It's written for W2K but should work with XP as well. Let us know if this helps.

XpUser.

Thank you for that link. I have been away for a few days and have just read your post.

According to this page I should be able to add comments to any folder, but their directions don't appear to apply to my XP.

My original folder question:

I have discovered that if I select all the files in the folder in question and copy them to another location, then all the comments are copied, but if I just copy the complete folder to another location, then everything except the comments will be copied.

Ted.
