0. Are you able to load windows in safe mode ?

1. Does it restart if you load the BIOS as well ?

If it only does it when loading windows, you are going to need to run a repair install of XP.

It doesn't restart when I load BIOS but yeah it restarts when windowsxp starts loading, now does that mean I can never get my computer turned on unless I repair or what?
Thanks

wait, take it slow.

When it boots...if you tap F8 repeatedly before the windows xp screen appears, you should be able to get to boot options.

Last known good configuration, safe mode, normal stop, boot mode w/ logging..things like that.

Try to hit f8 at bootup, after the POST, and see if it loops or if it takes you to boot options...

what have you done recently? have you installed anything? hardware/software? had to be something..

let us know.

Well, when I turn the computer on it says " We apologize for the inconvinience, windows did not start normally" and it shows the boot options and I tried all of them but it's the same thing, keeps restarting itself but I can only get to the BIOS mode and I don't think I have installed any hardware or software, it was working normal yesterday and I turned it off then after a while i tried turning it back on and that happened...

Um, my PC (a new PC with a new copy of Windows XP) is doing the same thing, so I did all the normal stuff - uninstalled recent software, did a system restore, tried the last known configuration, then reformatted. The reformat fixed it - for three days. Now, it's doing the same thing. Still doesn't load, just says it is loading, goes blank for a while, then reboots. I can load into BIOS or SAFE MODE and that's all. Coincidentally, Windows Media Player had stopped working prior to this happening and whenever I tried to reinstall it gave an error saying it couldn't finish reinstalling, at the very end of the reinstall. Is this some kind of symptom of a problem I can fix?

Would sure appreciate any help from those who may know. Thanks.

i would go into the bios, change the boot order to CD first...then i'd put a copy of XP in the drive, it "should" come up to a prompt that says.

"press any key to boot from cd"

hit any key, and go through the installation process of XP. it will get to point where it asks you what you want to do, install windows, repair windows, and some other functions..

CHOOSE R FOR REPAIR, and it will replace all WINDOWS SYSTEM FILES with a fresh batch.

try that and report back.

Hiya, I am having exactly the same problem and have done all the above. When it runs XP setup from the disc a blue screen comes up after a while with the error code STOP 0X0000007E ( 0XC0000005, 0X00000003, 0XF89B5AEC, 0XF89B57EC ). I have typed this code into google but it doesn't recognise it. I haven't installed anything, yesterday I did my college assignment in word, saved it, then went back to it today and discovered it was rebooting itself. I would be grateful for any advice as cannot access anything, therefore have lost all my documents.
Thanx
