After another simple windows update, my computer had to restart. An odd occurance was the fact that it restarted and then the boot screen came up, right before the monitor clicked on after that which is when i would usually see the mouse cursor and the blue login screen, the screen sort of clicked off, causing the green light on the monitor to turn yellow and then the monitor wouldnt turn back on. What worries me is that I restarted and got the DISK BOOT ERROR, INSERT SYSTEM DISK message. So, i shut the computor off. I waited a minute, then turned the computer back on and tried starting twice and restarting with the same windows loading and then the screen would just click off right before the logon screen problem. Any suggestions?

safe mode? if hat dont wor check that ur drive is reconised by bios and selected first to boot from.
I JUST LOST 287 gigs entertainment!

ok, safe mode works. whew, thats a bit of a relief. I tried booting my computer again, same thing, then i restarted and got the DISK BOOT ERROR again. I restarted into safe mode and that worked. However, i dont really know what to do in safe mode. You cant exactly change screen refresh rates or properties like that, everything is on the default settings. And how about getting a DISK BOOT ERROR on two different restarts? Should i be worried here and realy think about getting my stuff off of this drive?

ok, never mind. through safe mode i deleted the display adapter and when windows restarted it brought everything up in default modes. im guessing it was a refresh rate problem.

DO a defrag and scandisk in safe mode.
Then try to reboot and see if it works.Should it not work, you can insert your OS disk and type sfc /scannow in the run box!
best of luck Frank :
