Solved Windows closes my explorer windows.

Specs: Windows XP
OK this is getting mysterious and sickening.
Lately, Windows (or presumably explorer.exe) has starting behaving weird. When I navigate around among folders and files in explorer windows, suddenly when I mark a file or a bunch, and start right-clicking on them or pressing Ctrl+X (i.e.), the windows suddenly just close down, with the taskbar 'refreshing'.
As I thought this was my explorer.exe (or maybe it is) causing problems, I followed to change the explorer.exe file, by having the registry use a copy of it, but the problem still appears.
Any clues for solving?

Thanks for the response, and sorry for the delay. It could be the deal, but it seemed to be some disorder in the registry system. Things are working alright now.
