Windows Can't Start, PLEASE HELP!
Name: Big Mike Date: October 7, 2002 at 20:14:41 Pacific OS: Win Xp Home CPU/Ram: P4, 1.5Ghz, 128MB Ram
Comment:
I can't start Windows properly anymore. I was deleting some folders and I guess I deleted something I need. When I boot up my computer now, I get the following error message:
Windows could not start because the following file is missing or corupt: \Windows\system32\c_1252.nls
Then it tells me I can attempt to repair it by booting it from the CD and then going into the repair console. I can do this much, but then when it asks for the administrator password, it won't accept what I give it. I am the only user on the computer whit administrator privelages. Is there a default password that would work because I have no idea what else I could use except the one I thought it was.
Any and all help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks again. PLEASE HELP!!

That is a tough one, the admin password is set when you first install Win XP. If you had bought a computer with XP installed, then they should have given you documentation regarding that. However, if not then the only thing you can do is to reformat the hard drive and do a clean install and that will reset the passwrd.
thanks

he's not telling you to do the repair councel. he's telling you to repair the OS
Boot with the cd, when the options come up click Enter to setup/install the OS. after that there will be a selection to repair the OS. this will delete all system files and replace them.
have you cd key handy when you do this.
good luck.
Also dont' worry when you do a repair you won't lose your programs or informataion.

By default there is NO password for Home. Just press enter when it asks for a PW.
