OS: Windows XP Home

Comment:

Whenever I try to play an audio CD (Retail, not one created with a burner) I get this error Message:

---------------------------
Disk is not formatted
---------------------------
Windows cannot read from this disk. The disk might be corrupted, or it could be using a format that is not compatible with Windows.
---------------------------
OK
---------------------------

It doesn't like it in DOS either, throwing up this message:

C:\Documents and Settings\T. Rodriguez>D:
The disk media is not recognized. It may not be formatted.

The CDROM I am using is a TEAC DW-224E on a Toshiba 2410 Satellite Laptop.

If anyone could please help I'd appreciate it very much :)

Could be the disk has an encrypted track to stop it being played on a pc. Have you tried it on a non-pc cd player?

I am having the same problem. Perfectly good disks cannot be read from my DVD/CD ROM player. It seems to have happened all of a sudden. The computer is also a Toshiba Satellite laptop 1800-s254
