Not found on my XP Home.

To find out what each Startup(or Process) item
does or means, and any recommendation as to if you should close the process:
Task List Programs

NOT FOUND THERE.

Here is some information that was found:

http://www.liutilities.com/products/wintaskspro/processlibrary/monitor/

Appears mostly to be an advertisment.

This page is pretty technical, but it may be worth a read, as the monitor.exe is listed.

You may want to check your Start Menu to see if there is anything there, or the system registry for this reference. If you are not familiar or comfortable using the registry editor, try using msconfig to check the processes running at start up.

To use msconfig, click on the Windows Start button, then choose Run. Type 'msconfig' (ignore the quotes) and press ENTER. Select the Startup tab and see if you see any references to this "monitor.exe" process. If you do see it, uncheck it and click the Apply button, then the OK button. You will be prompted to reboot the computer.

Another note: using this method may re-enable certain Windows services that you had previously marked as "manual" or "disabled". Once the system reboots you may want to check your services.
