I'm trying to fix a friends computer that had virus. I took the 40 gb HDD out and connected it to my computer and got rid of the virus and thought it would work. But my problem is it wont boot past the user log on screen. and doesnt give me an option (user link) to click on. only in the left corner it gives me a turn off computer link.any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hopefully you didn't try booting this drive in your system.

Put the drive back in the original system.
Run a repair install on the drive.

No I didnt boot that drive from my system. ty for the advice and as soon as I get all of his computer CD's, I will try what you suggested again ty.
