Hi, my computer has been playing up for about a mouth now. The problem is when I am on the internet receiving mail playing games or deleting file my computer becomes very unstable and crashes, the Microsoft error thing come up asking me if I want to send this to them. After saying yes or no, I go back to doing what I was doing before it crashed then it does it again. I fault it might be a bad video driver but I took it off and reinstalled it and the problems still there.

Here is a list of things I have tried;
Disabling ZoneAlarm
Reinstalling video driver
Running jv16 PowerTools
Running Ad-aware 6.0 and Spybot - Search & Destroy
Updating Windows XP

I am so feed up with this keep happing, is any one else got this proble or does nay one know how to fix it.

My hair is falling out and I am only 21 :-(

Thanks for any help you can give,

Matt

Are you simply getting the Microsoft Error Reporting prompt or is the computer actually "crashing"?

If crashing, what is happening?
bsod (blue screen)
freeze
error (please list the error)

If you are receiving the ms error prompt only, turn it off:
To disable error reporting, follow these directions:

If you've already placed My Computer on your Desktop, then navigate to your Desktop, right-click on My Computer, and choose Properties. Otherwise, click your Start menu, scroll-over My Computer, right-click, and choose Properties.
Single-click the Advanced tab on your System Properties dialog box.
Single-click the Error Reporting button on the Advanced tab.
On the Error Reporting dialog box, place a checkmark next to the text labeled, "Disable error reporting."
Leave the other radio button unchecked next to the text labeled, "But notify me when critical errors occur."
Click OK.

Bad RAM (just a matter of a few bad bits) can cause your computer to crash.

Use memtest86.
http://www.memtest86.com/

Memory manufacturers use it to test their own RAM.

If you have Norton Utilities, run WinDoctor.

windows is BECOMING unstable... what do you mean... it IS unstable - being a right winged Linux user my opinion is rather bias - but i have never had any funky crashes using many different versions of Linux - all errors have been my own doing.

When i did use windows and it gave me the s---s - i'd delete the windows directory and reinstall - it generally fixed the problems.

in XP if you have the CD (if your pc supplier gave it to you) you have the option of repairing or installing over the top of your current installation.

Give that a burl (a try)

What I mean by Windows becoming unstable is that the screen flashes and all I can see in my background picture then all the icons and programs reapers. Does that make sense? And yes I get the Microsoft error thing as well.

I know you re-installed the graphics card drivers. My question is what are you running for a graphics card? Some older cards prefer old drivers rather than the latest greatest.
