My problem began with no desktop icons then went downhill from there. I cannot successfully restore the computer back to an earlier time, reinstall AOL (tried about 8 times by now)or even successfully run AOL quick restore. Right clicking has no effect at all on the desktop - nothing happens. Windows error messages are popping up too (65-FONL)so I ran Windows updates - to no avail. I have also run clean up programs, defragged and scandisk. Nothing helped. There does not appear to be any viruses, worms or trojan horses; the other users accounts on this computer are fine. Help....

If the other user accounts are fine, then your user profile is corrupt. I had the same problem with my brother's PC. He constantly was having problems but the administrator account was fine. Then I created another user profile and copied his files to the new profile. Finally, the HD failed and I installed a new one. There haven't been any problems since.

I have tried to copy the files and the system won't let me. I have tried to save all my files to a disc to reload to another user and the system won't let me. AOL is unusable in any user account on this computer and I'm getting both Microsoft and Windows error messages. But otherwise, the other accounts seem to be running properly. I agree that this particular account is corrupted but it seems as though I need to cleanup or uncorrupt that account in order to access all of my valuable documents...

Don't forget that you can copy files using the command prompt. If you still want to fix the corrupt profile, download and run Hijack This.
