im having a problem enabling auto protect- ive tried doing everything norton aid to do- but nothing works... unable o enable auto protect.. red x on antivirus icon on the bottom of scree.. installed and uninstalled norton numerous times.. started win xp on selective startup.. but auto protect still wont work

Were you using an older version of Norton, and is this an upgrade? Try using Symantec's removal tool "rnav2003.exe" you can obtain it by using their support area and entering "rnav2003.exe" in the expanded knowledge base.
