I downloaded and installed Windows 7 on a
computer I want to just play around with. It has less specs than yours(EVGA 610i, E2160 cpu, 2 GB RAM, etc.) and I had no trouble.

Did you download the 32bit or 64bit version? I'm downloading it and going to install it on a nvidia 680sli mb this weekend. Can let you know if I run into any issues then.

Check image.

"Best Practices", Event viewer, host file, perfmon, antivirus, anti-spyware, Live CD's, backups, are in my top 10

Aside from making sure you have downloaded the right version (32bit versus 64bit) you may have to delete it and download it again. Somteimes the download gets zapped and you won't even know it. From my own experience with downloads.

Hope this helps.

A positive attitude won't solve all your problems, but it will annoy just enough people to be worth the effort.

I get the same error (Windows could not finish configuring the system. To attempt to resume configuration, restart the computer.) Restart just loops back to the same error.
I get the error with a ZOTAC GeForce 8300 AMD Motherboard, same error with a Sempron or Phenom, and with all the Windows 7 builds that I have tried. Vista, however, installs just fine.
The difference appears to be the loader. Windows 7 (and Server 2008 R2) uses a virtual-friendlier loader, while Vista uses an earlier version loader.

I tried all the tricks that I could think of, with no luck. So I will just wait for the manufacturers to come up with a solution.
On three other, all different, motherboards, Windows 7 installed, and runs with no errors.

sorry i have not been back to this for a while.. but this is what i have. i downloaded the 32 bit version and was unable to install it on my faster system. just to try it out i tried installing it on an AMD 2400+ 1 g pc210 ram FX5200 128 MB vid card and asus a7v333 and it installed perfectly on that so its not the image. and since this is new.. obviously no support. i cnat believe they came up with such a generic error. i ahve no idea where to begin. i have Vista and XP installed on the newest system and both installed fine.

I did a clean 64 bit install on a separate partition and it went great. All the hardware works without searching for new drivers. Seems pretty fast too. We'll see how it goes from here.
