window xp wont boot after install

need help booted up with windows xp home edition cd. formatted to fat 32. went completely through all the installation steps when the system restarts the xp start-up screen comes up for a few seconds then the screen goes blue with these error numbers STOP:0x0000007b(0xf9e49640,0xc0000034, 0x00000000,0x00000000 i have tried formatting in ntfs and still done the same thing it is formatted back to fat 32 at this time i went ahead and installed windows me, until i can find out something else to do and it works ok on same computer, i would appreciate any help

Error Messages 0x0000007B: INACCESSIBLE_BOOT_DEVICE (Click to consult the online Win XP Resource Kit article, or see Windows 2000 Professional Resource Kit, p. 1555.) Win XP lost access to the system partition or boot volume during the startup process. Typical causes: Installing incorrect device drivers when installing or upgrading storage adapter hardware, or a virus.
