Sounds like a bad driver. Can you boot to the last known good configuration or into Safe Mode?

Then it is a hard drive issue. Boot from your Windows XP CD then run the recovery console. Once you get the command prompt "C:>" type

chkdsk c: -f

to scan your hard drive for bad sectors and to fix them.

If you have a bit torrent you can trust (one that prevents hackers from uploading viruses), download a Windows XP ISO. Then with a ISO burner, burn a Windows XP disk.

and for the burner I recommend IMGBURN...

P.S. This is not legal and is only meant to be used with a legal CD key. Steer clear of the key gens they usually have Trojans.

You safest route is to have your OEM send you another CD, or just take the computer to a repair shop.
