I have a folder full of many movie clips i have taken with my camera and they are all in the thumbnail view. The problem is that i have found when i have many files like this it really lags up the system. Is there any way i can prevent this from happening and still be able to view in thumbnail view. I notice that everytime i open and close the window the file has to "re-find" the picture...is there any way to allow the system to save the thumbnail so it wont have to search for it every time?

Or perhaps there is a free program i can download to help me better view a large library of video clips and movies.

Thanks

Try
In Windows Explorer or Control Panel,
click Tools in the Menu bar,
click Folder Options,
click View tab,
in Advanced Settings list, find and check mark "Remember each folder's view settings".

In the same place as above (Folder Options)...

'Do not cache Thumbnails'

If that is Checked then Uncheck it

A Hidden File called Thumbs dx will be created - this keeps an Index of your Thumbnails and will speed things up if you have many Thumbnails

If you have that many that it is lugging you down then why not burn them to disc? That way you have them backed up and protected at same time. Sort them by dates/places and creat an index referencing to what disc in the pictures folder and mark each disc accordingly.
By doing this it will free up a lot of harddrive space and speed up your system too
