Hello there!

Maybe this is not the right place to place a message like this, but I need help with WinACE and WinRAR which are definetly the best compression softwares.

The problem is like this, I try to compress a file and when i check 'Verify' in options, I get a CRC error.

The same bug, when I packed a Office 97 installation and burned on CD-R and put it on a different PC, it was full of CRC errors!!!

What`s the matter?? Some settings wrong??

P.S

I selected maximum compression in both cases!

Don't know why you're getting CRC errors, both Winzip and Winrar are very mature intuative programmes which I have found to work perfectly every time.

What bothers me, if I understand you correctly, is what you're trying to do: i.e. take a .zip or .rar of an installed programme (be it Office or almost any other for that matter) hoping it will simply unzip and run on another PC.

If so I'm afraid you're in for some dissappointment, it don't work that way my friend !

No, i`m not trying to transport programs like that! I just took it as an example, that i compress a SETUP just to get it in one file.

I hadn`t problems like this on a 9x machine!

Hello,

I realy understand you. I´m having the same problem with Winzip too.
I´m using a Soyo Dragon Plus with VIA KT266A chipset and an ATA 100 HD ( With 80 V. Cable ) and if i´m not wrong this problem starts when made an upgrade ( 4 in 1 VIA DRIVER ).
