win98 to winxp networking prob

I am currently connected to a network through my work, since I am in the middle of a month long holiday I can not get the comp guy to come help me out.
My work computer is running win98, if I was to upgrade to winxp would it keep all my network settings. I cannot manually input these settings since I do not know the password for the domain, and since the comp guy is gone for another couple of weeks this a problem. Thanks.

Wait for the computer guy to get back, otherwise, after upgrading to XP the network won't recognize you. There is also a lot of security holes in XP "out of the box" and lots and lots of patches need to be applied. Also could be hardware issues, etc.
