Hi All. I am am attempting to up grade my Win XP- Home SP2, to Win XP-Pro. When I insert the "Full Version Disk" it does a version check and reports" the version of Windows in the computer is a later version of what is on the disk and install can not continue".?? Hmm. Is SP2 fowling things up?

exactly right, your only options are to install an SP2-slipstreamed version of XP Pro, or uninstall SP2 from XP Home, then install XP Pro.

I wish I had not messed up the title of this problem. It is XP home/SP2 to XP-Pro. Thanks for the info. So I need to get a XP -Pro with SP2 for all of this to work. I'v seen it on line. Thanks I will look around for it again.

It is XP home/SP2 to XP-Pro

With SP2 installed in place, you will have a problem upgrading to XP Pro. This is why you get the version of Windows in the computer is a later version of what is on the disk and install can not continue.

What you should do is first uninstall SP2, upgrade to XP Pro, then install SP2.

Hi dannyboy,

I know you did but the poster of this thread went on to create another thread anyway. This is why I had to re-emphasize what the problem is.
