I have winxp installed on my primary drive but I would like to install win98 on the second partition without reinstalling winxp. Is there any way that I could install win98 onto the second harddrive and use partition magic 7 to boot between the two operating systems. After I install win98 would it mess up winxp boot file. Any help would be appreciated.

Not at all. What you want to do is just put the boot disk of win 98 into your cdrom while boot up then install it onto a new hd. Then during start up, windows should ask which one you want to book, win xp or win 98. If that does not happend then you need to edit your boot.ini a bit to include win 98 as an option. It's easy, no really need partition magic at all.
