I have two XP Prof. boxes, and for the last year at least, maybe more. They have been able to share files and access them between eachother. But recently, my main server cannot view the workgroup "[workgroup] is not accessible, you may not have permission"..
The other box is able to view the network, but does not detect the server, only itself.
Both run Windows XP Prof, connected through a router, all firewalls disabled, both in the same workgroup.
Help.

It sound as though the shares for the server have changed somehow. Even if everything appears to be set correctly I would make some kind of changes to the share settings, reboot and then restore to the original settings.

I would suggest running the network troubleshooter in the 'help and support' section , which will run you through all the basic questions like pinging etc.., of course if you have already run it or you still have a prob, reply here.

Still having the problem. I did notice one difference. When viewing the Network Connection Settings of the Lan, on the *non server* computer there was a tab for authentication, but on the server there wasn't.
Also, i played around, removed the card, all sorts of fun stuff. And i got the non server to be able to somewhat view the server *using \\ip* But there is no shared folders, only the printers, which again makes no sence.
