I just installed a PIII 1 ghz chip and Windows XP to my system and now it won't shut down. It goes all the way off but comes right back on. If I manually hit the power switch I get error messages at the next log on. I'm at a loss as to what to do next, I checked the bios and everything seemed correct, I checked the control/power settings and I think they are also correct. also on a not so inportant note I also can't seem to get software to auto start in the CD-ROM drive anymore. And I won't even talk about what's going on with my Direct CD back-up disks that I made with Easy CD Creator 5. Thanx for any help...

Uninstall EZ CD Creator and reinstall it again without the Direct CD part. You don't have to patch it with EZ CD Creator 5.02b if you don't have it but if you do it won't hurt. Shutdown should work ok after...

Check this option: Control Panel- System- Advanced- Startup & Recovery- Under "System Failure" uncheck "Automatically Reboot" and check "Send administrative report" If it is a normal WinXP system crash you should get a "STOP" screen instead. If it still reboots you have some more serious problems with the setup.
