win xp will not start.

Specs: Windows XP, 255mb ?
Windows will not start. Same page comes up over & over "we apologize for inconvenience, win did not start," gives several modes to start, have tried them all...
inserted win cd to get recovery console,r, exit & restart...I have done this several times & it still comes up to the same page. Is there ANY HELP out there?!!!? aaarrghh!!!

Can you get into Safe Mode? Have you tried a Windows Repair rather than loading the Recovery Console?

Reply #1...Jennifer...I have choices as to how to restart the comp, (safe mode included) but nothing happens except it goes back to the same page "sorry for the inconvenience etc"...I tried to find help on the repair link, gave up...will try again later...

Reply #3...Aegis,Thanks for trying...at "win xp home edition setup ", it says "setup could not read the cd, or that it isn't a valid win cd"...which it IS!...never got to step R... arrgghhh please don't give up on me! Thanks, Holly
