Hi
I just moved my hardisk to another computer and it wont boot, I keep getting the blue screen. I have been told that basically I have 2 options to my problem. 1 I reinstall, which will wipe out my files 2 I try to repair or verify the registry files with my the win xp cd.
Im a computer tech and am not yet comfortable with windows, is there a 3rd or 4th option available.

you can slave the drive cause windows leaves it signature on that drive with all your old computers hardware signatures to come up with the "unique key" that allows windows XP to run on one computer. remember you cannot just share XP freely like all the other 9x versions.

you can't bring the HD that aleady had the O/S to another computer, unless the motherboard are the same.
I've done it with win 98 4.0 and to a totally diferent motherboard. One was a 486, other a pentium, diferent manufacturer, different chipsets. Run setup from dos prompt, and windows re-detected all the hardware.
