Hardware is D-Link DI-514 Router and a D-Link DWL-520 wireless PCI adapter. The router is plugged into my cable modem and port 1 of the router is connected to my Main PC a Dell 8400 running Windows XP Home.
The other desktop PC with the Wireless card is running Windows ME. After installing just as Dell Networking stated both PC get online using MS IE. I can't get file or print sharing and do not care although I would like Print sharing. The problem is that whenever I log off or the PC goes into timed Standby, on awakeing I can't get on the internet unless I reboot. The win ME PC has no problem like that.
The PCI card on the Dell says(on Dell's list) it is an Intel Pro 1000 Intergrated PCI NIC Card. In the PC it is listed as
Broadcom NetXtreme 57xx gigabit controller.
Does anyone have any input to why this is happening?
I just finished a network connection for the Grandson with the main PC running Win 98 SE and the laptop running Win XP and had no problems but was using Linksys wireless router and Notebook wireless adapter.
Thanks for any help on this.Ralph(jazzbo)

Go to the properties of the network card and then go to power management tab and uncheck the "Allow computer to turn off this devise to save power" box. See if that might work.

I am running Windows XP on troubled PC and I see no "Power Management" tab in the
"Properties" of the NIC card.

domass:
The card was disabled and maybe that was why I couldn't see Power Management. I had reconnected to the PC from the cable modem with USB and disabled the NCI card.
I have done what you said and am in the process of testing.
Will let you know soon.
ThanksRalph(jazzbo)

domass,
That was it! I just recently got XP and was used to ME, SO.
I try to tell anyone the outcome of their help as I really hate to give help and never know if it was useful.
Thanks a million.
Both PC are on line and I am happy.
No more rebooting, rebooting and rebooting.Ralph(jazzbo)
