At WIN XP startup I receive: "The system could not log you on. Make sure your User name and domain are correct, then type your password again. Letters in passwords must be typed using the correct case."
This happens before going to normal logon screen. How can I identify and correct the problem causing this error message???

Hi Jim
This may not help you, but it just solved a problem for me. I have a relatively new XP Pro Installation. Received a call from my wife that the password had expired, so I had her change it. No problem; but I use TweakUI (Windows Power tool). Never thought to change the automatic logon password.
It took a half hour to get to a logon screen, typed in new password and it worked fine. Couldnt' figure out what was wrong---then finally the light bulb went on and I changed password in TweakUI. Boots and Logon normally now.
Good Luck

Thanks for your suggestion. I had TweakUI on my PC but removed it thinking that maybe somehow it contributed to this logon problem. (Didn't fix the problem.) I'd like to find out how (and where) to check my User name and domain are correct within Win XP.
