Win XP Startup problem

I just recently formatted my hard drive which had Win 98 and then installed Win XP. Now when I startup my PC I get a menu that lets me choose to boot up in XP or 98. Problem is that I dont want this to happen. My harddrive is bare except for the necessary Win XP components but there is an empty folder called "Windows98" that is 0 bytes. I erased it and tried to reboot but got the same message. The computer runs fine except for this little problem but its getting annoying. When I tried to boot up using the Windows 98 mode, it flashed a quick Win98 screen and went to DOS since it isnt installed on my HD. Any suggestions? Thanks.
