I just purchased a new computer that has Win XP SP2 and for some reason every time that I connect to the internet (on a DSL connection)the computer locks up and I have to hard boot it. Now this has been happening from day one. It would also take a long time to boot up (about 2 to 3 mins) if I had the Local Area Connection set to Obtain IP address automaticaly. I tried just using a static IP address to see if that would fix the issue. It did fix the boot up issue where it loads much faster but it still locks up when I am online. Any ideas would be very much appreciated.

If your computer is that new I would suggest that you take advantage of the warranty offered on a new unit. Take it back where you bought it and see what they can do for you.
