Win XP - slow uploading on ethernet

I run an FTP using either Serv-U or G6FTP clients off a university lan/t1 line. When I was using Win 98SE, the total upload speed easily went past 500k/s. Upon upgrading to XP Pro that dropped to 30k/s at best and often just dropping down to 0k/s constantly. Going back to Win 98 it went back to normal, then same thing when reinstalled XP. I've changed ethernet cards twice (1st realtek NIC model 8029 and next Netgear) and gotten updated drivers and still. Anyone know what's up? Like I said, it functions normaly when I switch to Win 98.

Well hopefully this will help...I think it has more to do with ur system cache on XP...Until i checked the box certain things that use to go really slow now move very fast..First thing i would do is go to control panel/System/advanced/performance settings/advanced/the check your memory usage settings...Check the box system Cache..Then that should be it...Not sure why would limit ur upload speed...well let me know if this works....later
