I have an ASUS A1300 laptop which had win ME installed. I have now clean installed win XP, but the system will not shut down. Have left it for 2 hours, still no shutdown. Message says saving settings, then the winxp screen remains. You cannot ctrl+alt+del, cannot use the reset switch, the only way to shut down then is to hold the power swich for 2-4 secs. Have tried the xp shutdown repair, still no joy. Comments \ answers please!
