Can anyone here help with the security feature on XP? I have a problem with one motherboard, so I tried to save my data. The way I did it, I connected the HD to another computer running Win2K.

I was able to access all directories without any problem but the C:\Documents and Settings\my_username (where I have My Documents dir there). It says I don't have access to that directory.

How can I bypass the security or if any enter my password to access that directory? Thanks in advance.

Your kidding right?

You don't really expect someone to tell you how to bypass a secure folder in an open forum do you??

This problem is really not that hard at all, and I do not see it as "wrong" to tell you because it is your own data you are trying to access....

Go to My Computer
right click on the secure drive
click properties
go to "security" tab
click advanced
click owner tab
click on your name for the win2k pc
and check "replace owner on subcontents"
then click apply, and press ok to everything.
It will take a few minuted depending on how big your hard drive is.

Good Luck!
