When i am using IE to surf the internet, sometimes windows XP restarts by its self. Before it restarts there is a blue box on the screen for a second but i dont get to read any of the text except "Windows has encountered a serious error..." or something like that. then my notebook shuts down and restarts. When WinXP restarts it says "windows has recovered from a serious error. Would you like to send an error report?"
My laptop
PIII 1.1GHZ
512 RAM WinXP Home
30gb hd
DVD/CDRWAnyone else seen this?

I amgetting the same thing but when opening a program or trying to record a cd! I am not sure if its the same problem but if you got the fix please let me know

I have heard a lot of these same issues and a friend of mine called Dell and they told her to replace the RAM

I had that problem before (i also have a laptop). When i was doing to many things at the same time, the computer used to reboot, with that blue screen.
This was when winXP profesional just got out. So i formated the laptop again, and put XP again, but i did all the updates from Windows homepage, and i havent had that problem again, so do all the updates!
=)

This an XP option that is turned on by default, follower the procedure below to change:
1)Open System in Control Panel and select Performance & Maintenance.
2)On the Advanced tab, under Startup and Recovery, click Settings.
3)Under System Failure, select the check boxes that correspond to the actions you want Windows to perform if a Stop error occurs:
*Write an event to the system log specifies that event information will be recorded in the system log.
*Send an administrative alert specifies that your system administrator will be notified.*Automatically reboot specifies that Windows will automatically restart your computer.

I have the same problems, durin use and some times very often, It appears adialog box saying:"Window has encountered a problem and need to close...we are sorry for the inconvenience" Do you want to send a report?
I have already made ALL the updates available on www also I have tried using recovery discs with any results...problem is still here...please if some body know how to fix It e-mail me....Thanks
