My laptop has started to get errors that make it unable to load windows Xp normally.
I've managed to get it to boot from the CD drive tog et to the XP setup screen.
What I'd like to do is install XP from a clean drive (reformat). How would I go about this?

When you get to the setup screens, be sure to select the option to format the partition as NTFS. That should do it.
But most newer laptops have a "hidden" drive that is essentially a zipped version of your hard drive when new. Accessing that would be faster and maybe better, since all your hardware drivers are there, too.

This is how I would do it (I have XP pro):
Boot from the XP cd, when it says to install to what partition, delete the partition it was previously installed on.
Then select the unused space and press enter. It was ask you to format in fat or ntfs, doesn't really matter what one you choose as either one will completly delete windows.
Remember to see if you have all your driver cds and make a backup of important things before you do this.
