I'm running windows XP and every time I start up, it goes through the loading windows screen, and then, at the last second, when it goes black just before showing the login screen it clicks and the computer restarts.
This happens every time. I restart and the same thing over and over. I can not get into any kind of windows. I also have tried all opinions after pressing F8 Safe Mode, Safe Mode with Command Prompt, etc... Can not boot off of a CD either is shows it is loading off of CD then same Win XP screen and again reboots. Any ideas?

can u reapair install? idk...never seen this problem before
Duct Tape is like the Force, It has a light side and a dark side and it holds the world together!

you should be able to boot of the CD as well as us safe mode to fix the problem which may be to uncheck in system
'automatically restart' if error occurs
if not, then im guessing a hardware problem, has to be
are you sure that when booting from XP CD, you are chosing to overwrite windows files only
this will fix the it as windows is the problem

The main thing here is I can't seem to get the system to boot off of the Windows CD. The CD is bootable as I have tried a Antivirus disk and it boot from there and did a virus scan. But when I boot from Win CD all I get is the Windows XP home logo and then 2 or 3 sec later it reboots. I don't get any options from the disk to choose. I can not boot to save mode either. It will not get that far before it reboots.
I am currently running the system with another Hard drive with Win XP pro and it is running fine. I just cant go passed the login screen here because it will require a windows activation. I am now gessing a bad hard drive or bad sectors in the boot section of the hard drive.
Any one want to second that?
Thanks

I'm having the exact same problem. I tried using safe mode that did not work. I also tried to use that feature that boots up your computer with the "last settings that worked" this also did not work. I'm stumped.
