Weird problem I've been having today. Windows XP only goes as far as the Windows splash screen (the one that exclaims WINDOWS XP)Turns black to go to the select user screen and reboots. (it never gets to the select user screen) It does this with everything Normal, Safe Mode, no way around it.

I threw an old hdd with Win 2000 in the machine and it started that up fine. I yanked the hdd out of the infected computer and put it in the old one... and it hangs up. However, I've set it as a slave drive and everything seems to run off of it fine so I know it isn't dead. I'm thinking a virus of some sort, I ran trendmicro Housecall for virus and deleted these files and got the same results.

bkdr.coreflood.c/xthgbqqn.exe
troj.small.mt/wmplayer.exe.tmp
troj.agent.amo/capesnpn.exe
troj.xplugin.a/consys98.exe
troj.esepor.e/secupd1203.exe
troj.esepor.j/secupd1305.exe
bkdr.delf.lo/svchost.exe
trok.udodos.a/wsaupd.exehttp

If anyone can help it'd be great, I'm tired of running my dinky 10gb drive as a master and my 60gb as a slave lol :P And it doesn't seem like a heat problem because I've been running it for a while without problems.

astrocity20, the files you listed are part of a trojan. Suspect you only got part of it, be aware that a virus and a trojan are similar, but not the same. Many times, a virus scanner can detect one it can't clean. There’s an online trojan scanner @:

I've actually found what this is, I don't know if it's a virus or a trojan at all as much as a Windows bug of some sort you can type in "Windows XP reboot mup" and see what I mean. People have only been able to fix it in specific ways but there isn't a sure fire way to completely fix it. :(
