Win Xp ram problem

OS: win xp sp2
CPU/Ram: intel d 3.2/4 GB
Product: HCL

I have a latest HCL system with Intel D 3.2 Ghz processor, and 4 GB ram.

But when i see in the win xp properties it shows me only 2 GB ram,where as when i check in BIOS it shows me 4 GB ram installed.What do i do to get 4 GB on Win XP

xp has a limit of 4 but you are unlikely to hit that number because the system reserves some of that memory. I forget if it is 2 or 1, but in any case your never going to be able get xp to see 4 gigs.

Oz is correct that you won't get the use of all 4GB but if the system is reporting only 2GB somthing is wrong.
Reboot the computer and watch the POST screens at startup. You shuld see a message there reporting the amount of RAM your BIOS is identifying, along with drive info.
If the BIOS shows 4GB then you HAVE 4 GB. Either way I suggest you contact the vendor you purchased from. You shouldn't need to troubleshoot a new machine. If the BIOS doesn't report 4GB then either only 2GB is installed, the RAM density is higher than the BIOS can handle and the RAM needs to be replaced, or one or more RAM modules may not be properly seated.
