Is there a list of programs that specifically will not work due to Microscams-r-us coding? For instance, Opera and Netscape.

I don’t think Microsoft would dare not let Netscape work. They would be in court more than they are now LOL

If you go to Windows Update there is a patch:

Windows XP Application Compatibility Update

You needn’t install it just click the ‘read’ link to the Q???????? Knowledgebase.

You can right click a program exe / properties / compatibility, and make it backward compatible.

netscape 6.1 for nt 5.1 works,
1st I did the winxp updates though.
haven't tried opera yet.
