Hello. I have HP6630, 256Mb, 2 hard drives, Win Xp Professional upgraded from Windows 98 SE. C drive is 10.2 GB and the D drive is 80GB. The problem is after I tried to install Kerio Firewall Beta from a MaximumPc CDROM I got an error which I don't remember. The next day I turned on my computer. As it went past the Hewlett Packard Welcome screen here is the following error:

Windows could not start because the following file is missing or corrupt:
\windows\system32\config\system.
It said to press 'r' at the next screen to repair. Now that reinstalled Win Xp Pro it shows at startup two selections of Win Xp Pro because it is installed on both my C drive and my D drive. Also how do I stop it from showing how many seconds that it starts Windows Xp and without having to press F8 for advanced options each time. I hope this isn't confusing. Does anyone have any solutions.?

Type msconfig under Start/Run then go to Boot.ini tab and delete one of the references to WINXP loading.

Hello. The problem is solved by my brother noticing dual booting under boot.ini

Thank you for the solutions.

I have a SONY CDRW and 384MB RAM and when I install WINXP switch off the computer, by the next start I became BLUESCREEN errors or NTLDR is missing. I tought the
problem could be the Seagate Barracuda 40GB, cause if i choose to install it to other disc it was OK. {One my friend has also Seagate Barracuda and has the same error}. If anyone knows how to avoid this error please help.
