I had problems with my DMA Controller (which is a Highpoint Technologies product, HPT366) not letting me install Win XP Pro, but I found the answer to the problem here and managed to get further into the install process then before. Now after Windows sets up the installation and reboots the computer to continue the install, I get an error along the lines of halacpi.dll cannot be found. I was told to hit F5 while the install program is going and pick generic PC to get around this problem. Instead I now get at error stating that pciide.sys is corrupt and installation will abort. Has anyone else had this trouble? Any ideas?

Remove all hardware that is not eccential to boot, including that DMA card. Run the install with out Standard PC, if that dont work use F5. The when your installed plug in the controller and let winXP find it...PS make sure you have updated XP drivers for it, just incase.

I had an Abit BE6 with that controller and I managed to circumvent a similar issue by disabling the ACPI support in BIOS. It worked for me.

I tried to disable the ACPI support in BIOS and instead of getting the halacpi.dll error I now only get the pciide.sys error.
Everyone else I know has had no trouble getting XP on. WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON?!?!

Hi,

I had a problem when I installed XP Pro. The message is saying "Fatal error- one one of the components windows need to continue setup could not be installed. The parameter is incorrect. "

Can anyone please help?

Thanks..
